Reading Horizons Review: William May

What kind of results have you seen using Reading Horizons?

Several students have improved their reading levels by several grade levels in a very short amount of time.

What is your favorite thing about Reading Horizons?

I love the combination of sight words and phonics.

How has Reading Horizons made you life easier?

When a student comes to me and has a very low reading level I now know where to start.

What problems has Reading Horizons helped you solve?

Besides giving me a starting point, Reading Horizons guides me to where the student needs to go filling in the holes of his learning.

Why/would you recommend Reading Horizons to other correctional educators?

Reading Horizons works if you work it. Students who have cognitive ability but lack reading will progress quickly and find their way to getting their GED.

Is there a student story that stands out about a student that used the program?

I had a student who was very intelligent but just could not read. He suffers from dyslexia and was a frustrated learner. Within a couple weeks of Reading Horizons he read his first story (EVER) and answered the content questions perfectly. When I wrote the 100% on his paper, he cried. For the first time in his life he got an A on a reading assignment. He transferred facilities shortly afterwards but not before improving his test scores by 6 graade levels and beginning to read small books. Never had he ever read a book before his Reading Horizons experience.
